iPhone discontinued models: when Apple provides its new update for iPhones, some of the old models of this phone will be practically obsolete and will not be usable with the new version of the operating system.
Apple’s latest software update, iOS 17, will be released this fall, bringing with it several exciting new features, including a new standby mode. Of course, not all iPhone users can use this new update. Including some older iPhone models, including the 2017 iPhone X.
Check your iPhone model
If you are not sure about the model of your iPhone, you can quickly find out the model of your phone by visiting the mobile settings section. Just open the settings and enter the General section and then go to the About section. Next to the phone model name, you can see which model your iPhone is.

iPhones that will be compatible with iOS 17
According to Apple, if your iPhone model is one of the following, you will have access to iOS 17 this year:
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (second generation and later)
- iPhone 14 (including Plus)
- iPhone 14 Pro
What if, you have iPhone discontinued models
If your iPhone model is not in the list above, you should know that your mobile phone does not support iOS 17 and you will not receive a message to download the latest version of the phone software. For example, if you have an iPhone X or an older iPhone, the latest version of software you can use on your phone is iOS 16.
